Service area

Where We Travel

We're based at 2011 Florida Ave SW in Denham Springs, and most of our calls come from within a short drive of that spot. We run jobs out to Monticello, about five miles away, and Walker, six miles out.

Inner ring of towns

Old Jefferson sits at seven miles, Inniswold at eight, Merrydale at nine. We also cover Village St. George and Oak Hills Place, both around ten miles, and we'll head out to Brownfields at eleven or Port Vincent at twelve when the job calls for it.

Farther parishes served

Farther out, we get calls from Livingston and French Settlement, both around thirteen miles, and we've worked jobs as far as Port Allen, Brusly, and Addis when the schedule allows. Central Louisiana, about seven miles northwest, is also in our regular rotation.

Distance versus scheduling

We don't pretend distance doesn't matter - a job in Addis at twenty miles gets scheduled differently than one five minutes from the shop. But if you're in this service area, there's a decent chance we've already been to a house on your street, or close to it, given how many of these towns run together without much gap.

Common jobs

What We Are Called Out For

The housing stock we work on mostly dates from 1962 to 2013, with the heaviest concentration built in the 1980s and 90s across the fourteen named areas we cover.

Original torsion setups

That era of construction means a lot of torsion spring setups that are original or close to it, openers from a generation that didn't have rolling codes or battery backup, and tracks that have seen thirty-plus years of Louisiana humidity.

Mild climate, freeze snaps

The climate here is mild most of the year with occasional freeze snaps, which isn't enough cold to crack most doors but is enough to stiffen grease, tighten metal, and make a worn spring finally let go on a cold morning. We get a steady mix of broken torsion springs on double doors, openers that have stopped responding to remotes, rollers that have worn down to the point of grinding, and cables that have frayed on older drums.

Mixed housing ages

With close to 28,751 households and over 18,000 owner-occupied houses in the area we serve, there's a wide range of door ages and setups, so we see everything from doors that just need a tune-up to full replacements on panels that have rusted through at the bottom.

Our limits

What We Do Not Take On

We don't do custom architectural doors built to one-off specs - carriage doors with hand-forged hardware, glass-panel doors designed by an architect, that kind of thing. If a door needs to be fabricated rather than installed from standard stock, that's outside what we do.

We also don't install or service gate operators. Garage doors and gate systems use different motors, different safety logic, and different failure points, and we'd rather tell you that up front than take a job we're not set up for.

The house has a white garage door, brick facade, and a large tree in the front yard.

On repairs, there's a point where a door isn't worth fixing. If the track is bent in multiple places, the panels are rusted through, and the opener is original to a house built in the 1980s, patching one part just means the next part fails in six months. We'll say so instead of running up a bill on a door that needs to be replaced. That's not us talking ourselves out of work - it's just what thirty-year-old steel and wood actually look like by the time it fails for good.

Questions

Common questions

Do you come out to Walker or Monticello?

Yes. Both are within six miles of our shop on Florida Ave SW, and they're part of our regular service area along with the other towns nearby.

Why do so many doors in this area need spring replacement around the same age?

A lot of the housing stock here was built in the 1980s and 90s. Torsion springs have a working life measured in cycles, not years, so doors from that era are hitting failure around the same time regardless of upkeep.

Do you work on gate operators too?

No. We stick to garage doors and openers. Gate systems use different motors and safety logic, and we don't want to take on a job outside what we actually know well.

Is it ever not worth repairing a garage door?

Yes. If the track is bent in several spots, panels are rusted through, and the opener is original equipment from decades back, a repair usually just delays the next failure. We'll tell you when replacement makes more sense.
